The National Weather Service has issued another strong wind advisory for Friday, January 12, 2024. The latest forecast predicts wind gusts up to 50 mph beginning at 1 pm. Based on this new information, District Three will operate on a half-day schedule for tomorrow. We understand the inconvenience this causes our families. However, state regulations mandate that we suspend bus operations when sustained winds are forecasted to reach 30 mph, or gusts exceed 40 mph.
Elementary students will be dismissed at 11:00 am. Middle school and high school students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Bagged lunches will be available for students as they leave. We ask that parents please pick their children up on time so our faculty and staff can travel home safely. All afterschool activities and programs have also been canceled.
We wanted to share this information with parents as soon as possible. Please know that we have spoken directly with the National Weather Service and there is no indication that the wind advisory will be lifted. However, should the forecast change at the 5 am update, we will notify parents immediately and make any necessary schedule adjustments. Again, we truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate the weather and schedule changes.
